Welcome to the Stacks project, where we elevate the eCommerce experience through innovative product bundling. This initiative by preezie focuses on enhancing shopper satisfaction by intelligently recommending complementary products that make the shopping journey more intuitive and enjoyable.
The current eCommerce landscape is marked by a lack of effective product bundling solutions, resulting in missed sales opportunities and weakened customer loyalty. Shoppers often struggle to find compatible items, which undermines their confidence and negatively impacts their overall experience. To address these challenges, we set out to develop a structured product bundling strategy that leverages complementary products. Our objective was to create compelling product recommendations with added value propositions, ultimately enhancing the customer experience, driving higher sales, and improving customer satisfaction.
To develop an effective product bundling solution, I began with a comprehensive analysis of shopper behaviour. This involved conducting surveys to gauge shopper preferences and needs, as well as customer interviews to ensure our solution aligned with business objectives. A thorough market analysis identified opportunities for differentiation, positioning our solution effectively within a competitive landscape. Recognising that this was a SaaS offering, scalability across multiple brands was crucial. This understanding informed the design of a robust yet adaptable framework with flexible styling capabilities to meet diverse branding requirements. I initiated the process with foundational steps, progressing from initial sketches to low-fidelity wireframes and ultimately high-fidelity prototypes, with a strong emphasis on user interaction and behaviour.
This solution, integrated with preezie Journeys, enables flexible product pairings based on multiple criteria, including user responses, selected categories, fixed items, price ranges, and optimal compatibility with primary products. We harnessed preezie’s robust recommendation logic within preezie Journeys to curate these bundles, allowing flexibility in connecting bundle logic to the existing recommendation engine at both the question-and-answer level. The system also supports the injection of granular manual logic, enabling more refined and specific results. For existing preezie Journeys customers, the integration process was seamless, requiring no additional code snippets or complex changes—simply set up and activation. This streamlined approach ensured a smooth transition and efficient implementation.
The Product Stacks feature was designed to create a unique selling proposition within the preezie Journeys framework, setting it apart from other bundling solutions. Initial sketches and wireframes mapped out the module’s functionality, ensuring alignment with both user needs and business objectives. From there, detailed Figma prototypes were developed to refine the user interface and experience through iterative testing and feedback. Continuous adjustments based on user input led to a final product that was both functional and user-friendly. Close collaboration with developers ensured the seamless integration of Product Stacks into the preezie platform, maintaining compatibility with existing CMS and data tracking systems. A mobile-first approach was prioritised to accommodate the majority of users shopping on their phones, with clear calls-to-action (CTAs) and visible promotional codes enhancing the shopping experience. Flexibility was a core aspect of the design, with feature flags allowing activation per workflow and customization options for titles, promo codes, sorting logic, and styling to meet the needs of diverse brands. Additionally, a product shuffle feature was introduced, giving users the ability to personalise their bundles, further enhancing control and satisfaction.
One of the primary challenges was ensuring seamless integration with preezie Journeys, particularly when mapping the complex logic required for bundling recommendations. This demanded careful planning and close coordination with multiple teams to avoid disrupting existing workflows. Aligning the bundling logic with preezie’s question-and-answer framework was especially intricate, as it needed to work in harmony with the platform’s recommendation engine while supporting flexible criteria, such as product categories, price ranges, and compatibility. To address these challenges, we developed a logic-mapping system that integrated smoothly with preezie Journeys’ framework, enabling seamless interaction between the bundling feature and the recommendation engine.
The implementation of the Product Stacks module led to a significant increase in average order value (AOV), conversion rates, and overall customer satisfaction, highlighting the effectiveness of the bundling strategy within preezie Journeys. User engagement saw marked improvement, with 5% of users interacting with the Stacks panel when available on the results page. Additionally, 45% of users added products directly to their cart from the Stacks panel, raising the click-through rate (CTR) of the result page’s add-to-cart buttons to 20%. The average order size grew to over three items, with AOV rising by 30% when the feature was used. Furthermore, 10% of users who engaged with the Stacks panel went on to complete a purchase, underscoring its positive impact on conversion rates. In addition to these results, several preezie customers showed strong interest in integrating Product Stacks into their sites, even before the feature was fully developed, further highlighting its anticipated value and impact.
Looking ahead, future developments will focus on further simplifying the onboarding process while maintaining the flexibility of the existing logic implementation. As we explore opportunities beyond the current bundling solution within preezie Journeys, we have identified potential for a new, distinct solution that could drive further innovation in this space. To expand the solution’s reach, we plan to enhance the bundling feature and embed it across additional site pages, increasing its visibility and engagement. This broader application aims to attract more users and integrate the bundling feature more deeply into eCommerce experiences. preezie will explore this new direction in the future, with the goal of advancing innovation in product bundling.
In conclusion, the Product Stacks project successfully addressed the challenges of product bundling in eCommerce, delivering a scalable, user-friendly solution that increased customer engagement, average order value, and conversion rates. Through seamless integration with preezie Journeys and iterative design, the feature provided a flexible tool adaptable to various brands and user needs. Moving forward, preezie aims to expand the feature's capabilities and explore new opportunities in the bundling space, continuing to drive innovation and improve the online shopping experience.
